The Answer

Hello everyone! Did you keep rendering your smiles to the others including the strangers?

13/04/2012 was a very meaningful day for me. As an exception, I was almost blown out for some reasons, fortunately, I was able to cross it over. He shouldn't have done that, not to my one, never ever. Everything happens for a reason. And for my positive reason, I did take part in the English Language Poetry Writing Competition today. I wouldn't have joined this competition if my good buddy, Mr.Genius didn't challenge me and force me to the edge haha. This is funny. It is because my team and I did get No.1 in the Maths Station Game 2 weeks ago. And I could still keep laughing right now hahaha.

Alright. What is Poetry Writing? I really got no idea. And a naughty boy like me actually went into the matches with no preparations and researches. Organizing Chairperson, lol, Mr.Marcshinda with his very very cool funny jokes, believe or not, it did help me understood a little bit on this so-called Poetry Writing. We were given 5 themes. 1.Friendship, 2.Happiness, 3.Love, 4.Nature, 5.Peace. My first impression was, '' Eh, love? Oh my God? Did he just say love?'' And so, I picked, the theme ''LOVE'' as how I always choose to have love into my life.

8 stanzas with 40 lines is the maximum. Oh Gosh, with an empty mind, I asked myself, what is love? Yeesh. Never mind that. Gotta draft my writing first. Tick-tock, tick-tock, still empty. Time flied, all in the sudden, I heard the pulling of the chair, Mr.Genius was already making the so-called ''LOXIAO'' face to me. I started to panic. ''What is love?'' ''Is there any love?'' ''How come a man like me who believes in love lost the definition of love?'' Haha, actually, the answers were already hidden deep down in my heart. What was I panic is, the fear of giving out a wrong message about my love, your love.

Here's what have I written this afternoon,

There is love,

Doomed soldiers with all the hatred in eyes,

Innocent flowers are painted with color of stinky blood,

Men are home with no arms, legs and freedom,

What is love?

The magnificent blue sky rains droplets of selfishness,

Chopping off own hands and taking out own eyes,

To cut ties with own brothers and sisters,

Again, what is love?

There is still love,

Pointing knife to the hearts of our parent,

Feeling awkward to render a smile,

Tears dropping to an empty black hole,

There is no love, perhaps.

Holding's trembling cold hands where the bullets fly like the mosquitoes,

Shedding tears of hope to see burned brothers waking up once more,

Burning own lives with bombs and bullets for the lives of the others,

There is, love.

Seven different colors of kindness struggle their best to draw a mesmerizing rainbow,

Cat dressing up as a clown to entertain the rats,

Aligator crossing the rivers with monkey on its back,

There is, love.

Is there any love?

Lamb kneels on the spiky ground to flower a thousand thanks to mum,

Sitting side by side with a downhearted friend in silence,

Picture of rising sun on the horizon rewrites the definition of everything,

The answer stays forever, it is, LOVE.

Compare to Michelle, Devon, Hazel, far far behind. Hahaha. Hmmm. It's okay. As long as I did enjoy my time writing this peom, though I was the last to leave the room. Yes. The answer stays forever, it is, LOVE. So, don't ever let the seed of your love withers. Today was great. I truly appreciate it. Thank you, Lord for an amazing day. Alright. I still have another amazing day ahead. May God bless all of you here. See ya xDDD

Quake off Indonesia triggers tsunami alert

Jakarta, Indonesia (CNN) -- A massive earthquake struck off the coast of the Indonesian island of Sumatra Wednesday afternoon, triggering a tsunami alert for the Indian Ocean.

The quake struck about 434 kilometers (270 miles) southwest of Banda Aceh, the capital of Indonesia's Aceh province, and had a magnitude of 8.6, the U.S. Geological Survey said. It took place at a depth of 23 kilometers (14 miles).

A second large quake, with a magnitude of 8.2, occurred off the west coast of Sumatra about two hours later, the USGS said.

Gary Gibson from the Seismology Research Center in Melbourne, Australia, said the location of the second quake reduces the possibility of a tsunami.

There was also a series of smaller quakes off the west coast of northern Sumatra with magnitudes between 5.1 and 5.4.

There were no immediate reports of destruction or deaths Wednesday.

Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said on local television that there were no reports of casualties or damage in Aceh.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center issued a tsunami watch for the entire Indian Ocean, and the Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency said it had put up a tsunami warning as well.

Sea level readings indicate a tsunami was generated, the warning center said. "It may already have been destructive along some coasts."

How are earthquakes measured?

The center also said that "when no major waves have occurred for at least two hours after the estimated arrival time or damaging waves have not occurred for at least two hours, then local authorities can assume the threat is passed." The center posted approximate arrival times for waves in different parts of the region, which were predicted at various times in different cities throughout the day.

Waves were reported at 1-meter (3.5-foot) amplitude -- or height above sea level -- offshore in Meulaboh, Indonesia, but in other cities they were reported at about a foot or less, according to the warning center.

British Prime Minister David Cameron announced that Britain "stands ready to help if required."

The first quake took place at 2:38 p.m. local time (4:38 a.m. ET).

It appears to have involved a horizontal movement rather than a vertical movement, so it is less likely that it will generate a tsunami, Gibson said.

He also said that the tremor took place a long way offshore and was therefore unlikely to have caused much damage itself.

Still, officials called on coastal residents in low-lying areas in the region to seek higher ground.

The power went out in Banda Aceh and residents were moving to higher elevations, said Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, a spokesman for the Indonesian National Disaster Management Agency.

The areas most at risk of a tsunami are coastal areas of Aceh, particularly the island of Simeulue, Prih Harjadi, an official for the Indonesian geophysics agency said on Metro TV.

In Thailand, the National Disaster Warning Center issued an evacuation order for residents and tourists along the Andaman coast, state-run news agency MCOT said.

"The tremor was felt as far as in Bangkok where office workers at several high-rise buildings said their workplaces were shaken" for three to five minutes, the report said. "Several southern provinces also felt the tremors."

In the Maldives, some resorts were evacuated in advance of possible waves, according to CNN's Erin Burnett, who was on vacation in the region.

"What strikes me most is essentially the lack of a warning system" in the Maldives, she said. Officials rely primarily on information from the USGS, Burnett said.

In 2004, a 9.1-magnitude underwater earthquake off the coast of Sumatra triggered a tsunami that killed more than 200,000 people in 14 countries. The majority of the deaths were in Indonesia, with Aceh bearing the brunt.

That quake took place 250 kilometers (155 miles) south-southeast of Banda Aceh at a depth of 30 kilometers (19 miles).

The tsunami, which washed away entire communities, caused nearly $10 billion in damage and more casualties than any other tsunami in history, according to the United Nations.

Since then, officials have worked to improve warning systems and have carried out drills in the region.

Indonesia is on the so-called Ring of Fire, an arc of fault lines circling the Pacific Basin that is prone to frequent earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.

The earthquake Wednesday comes just over year after a magnitude 9 quake off the northeast coast of Japan caused a devastating tsunami. The death toll from that disaster stands at about 15,850.
